THE SITE

Ferraro Vineyard, outskirts of Myrtleford.  Grown on the Ovens Valley floor, approximately 200m above sea level.  VCR1 clone, grafted on 110 Ritcher rootstock.  Planted 2009.

 

WINEMAKING

Machine harvested.  Once pressed the juice was partially settled and transferred to a combination of stainless steel and Flexcube for fermentation using selected yeast.  Slow and cool ferment, with temperatures maintained below 15 degrees.  Once ferment was complete the wine was then held on lees, with occasional stirring to enhance texture. 

 

WINERMAKERS NOTES

A very cool growing season delivered a wine with generous acidity and addictive saline qualities.

Savoury backbone / Mineral edge
